You NEVER Get A Second Chance To Make A First Impression!
Have you ever had one of those listings that was a nice house but… it was hard to show because the carpet was a mess? Black traffic areas on a white carpet, or pet stains – you know the one. Maybe it smells kind of stale, or worse yet, has a vague ‘pet’ aroma. The homeowners don’t often notice those spots, stains or odors because they have become accustomed to them. But you can bet the prospect will. Someone else’s dirt is different than your own.
And we all know that first impressions are everything when it comes to showing a home!
You can immediately see it on the prospects face as they walk in and their nose wrinkles, or they glance unhappily at the stains on the carpet. So you lead off with an excuse, “It’ll be cleaned before you move in, of course…” or worse for the seller and broker, “Maybe they’ll give you a carpet allowance…”
The sad part is, you may not know it doesn’t really need new carpet… just a true professional TLC . But the last cleaning company you used looked unprofessional, scraped up the walls and it took days for the carpet to dry. You just don’t know who to call… You may not even know that Victoria Carpet Care has an outstanding reputation for meticulous cleaning.
Recommendation #1: Make a commitment to yourself to get your carpets cleaned.
The longer they remain dirty, the sooner they’ll wear out. Plus the longer you have to breathe all the pollens. fungus, chemicals and dust mites that live in your carpet.
Recommendation #2:List your objectives.
Do you want only the dirt removed, something you could do with a rented machine. Or do you want the bacteria fungus and chemicals removed, which will require a hot water truck mount cleaner, like I use. Do you want to work with an honest. reputable company, or are you willing to risk working with the company that offers you the lowest price not knowing if that company will be in business tomorrow.
Recommendation #3:Ask questions.
The way you learn about a company is to ask specific questions and listen carefully to the answers.
Recommendation #4: Once you’re satisfied that you’re working with an honest, competent professional, invite him into your home and ask for a specific quotation in writing.
A written quotation gives you the assurance that you know exactly what your job will cost with no surprises.
